My main memories from this year are,
School was going well, I remember having a few bumps in the road but my foster carer soon ironed them out. I was settled at home & really felt like part of the family. My main memory from this year was the amazing holiday and my first time abroad. But before this could happen I had to get a passport which was a battle in itself, three days before we flew my social worker at the time had to drive to the passport office to collect it, thank you. As it was my first time flying, my foster carers applied for me to finish school two days before the Easter break as the airport would not be as busy.
I can remember seeing the plane for the first time and thinking it was huge. When we boarded the plane I was given a teddy bear by the crew, I still have that bear. I sat by the window and could not really comprehend that we were flying through clouds. I still didn’t know where we were going as it was a surprise. When we landed it was very hot, and there was a sign that said welcome to Hurghada which is in Egypt. And unbeknown to me there was another surprise in store. We got a taxi to where we were staying which was the jungle aqua park, our accommodation was a bungalow which was right next to one of the many swimming pools. We went outside to have a look round after we unpacked and my best friend from school was staying right next door to us. I had the most amazing holiday with her, we went on camels and quad bikes in the dessert, we spent so much time in the water going round the lazy river, on all different kind of slides, played in the paddling pools where water was dropped from a bucket on to our heads. We had a day at Shamanaga beach which was amazing the Red Sea was so warm, I went snorkelling and saw clownfish (Nemo). In the evenings we walked to one of the many restaurants that were on site, I spent lots of time with my best friend we had so much fun. But like all things great it came to and end and after 14 glorious days we headed home. It was great to be back home in my familiar surroundings but I had made some very happy, memorable memories which I will never forget. I’m sure lots of other things happened this year but this holiday is the one thing that sticks out in my mind. Making memories is very special.
