Furthermore, Sandwell is home to some amazing leisure places from the Sandwell Aquatics Centre and the Sandwell Valley to the valley country park and Warley Woods. It is also home to the Sandwell College that was established and opened back in 1986 with a student population of 6000 people. Along the college, Sandwell is also home to a high school known as Holly Lodge which was opened in 1922. Within today’s society Sandwell is a very important centre for engineering and for Iron Foundries that are producing a strong range of metal products.

However, in the present day, Sandwell is known to be a very popular hotspot for an activity to what is known to people as car crushing, but during 2015, it was decided that a high court order was to be introduced to ban this within the area of Sandwell. However, this was secured to run only until the year of 2021. Internationally, Sandwell is twinned with many countries internationally such as Le Blanc Mesnil in France, Zalau in Romana, and Amritsar in India.  The Metropolitan Borough is made up of six main towns which are Oldbury, Wednesbury, Smethwick, Tipton, Rowley Regies and West Bromwich.

Geographically, it is shown that two motorways cover the borough which in total cover an area of 33 square miles. Data shows that the latest life expectancy at birth for those who live in Sandwell is over 77 years for men and 81 years for women.
