At Fostering UK we strive to provide the highest levels of support to all our foster carers from the moment they make an application. Once there is an enquiry, a member of our recruitment team will get in touch with you so that you can start your application. The initial process will involve a home visit from a member of our team to your house, followed by the assignment of a social worker who can work with you on the next stage, the fostering assessment.
What will your Social Worker do?
Once you are assigned a social worker, they will support you through the entire assessment process, and then carry on through to when you are having placements. At Fostering UK we pride ourselves in having highly skilled social workers to help ensure you feel as comfortable as possible.
Your social worker will keep in touch with you and your placements frequently, with regular phone calls and visits at least once a month. They can arrange any additional support services, as well as helping with contact and dealing with birth parents and local authorities. They can identify your training needs to help you become the best foster carer possible, helping you meet training, support and development standards. They will also keep close record of any children placed with you. Social workers are there to make sure that you and your child are as comfortable and happy as can be, while also helping you through the complex fostering process.
What Training Do We Provide
At Fostering UK, we give the highest quality therapeutic support and training, providing regular free training sessions throughout the year. This could include one-to-one, online and onsite training from members of our team. We make sure that each session will be local to you and in school holidays, meaning it won’t get in the way of caring for your child. We also arrange support groups and meet-ups with other foster carers, giving you the chance to meet with other carers so you can share your experiences and advice.
What support will you have?
During working hours, all of our team are available to talk to if you need. Even out of hours, we always have at least one member of the team on call, so be reassured that you will never be on your own. Our dedicated staff are also available at all times for the children to contact if they need to.
